Presumed Dead? How a Family Copes With A Missing Person

S3E1_ Jane Martin-2

Season Three begins with the shocking story of a missing person.  In 2012, Jane Martin was living life as usual with her husband, Jim, and their two children.  Then, on December 10, 2012, Jim went missing.  Nearly six years have gone by and there are still no answers for Jane.  This Nebraska family will have to wait a total of seven years to have Jim declared ‘presumed dead,’ and receive any financial assistance.

An average of 90,000 people are missing in the USA, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), a national database for missing people.   So, unfortunately, the Martins are not alone.  Jane shares the difficult story of where Jim’s vehicle was found, and what she thinks happened to her husband.  She talks about a life in limbo and offers advice for anyone in this devastating position.
